About the Author
Eric A. Rogers started out drawing stick figures but as he got older, and a little better, he would draw Saturday morning cartoons. Rogers would get up with his pencil and paper and slowly draw what he saw on TV. If he didn’t get the character by the time the show went off, he would finish the drawing from memory. From there he would draw comics and sell them to his friends. Rogers loves to draw but there was a time in his life when he was ready to give up on that passion. That period was his first stint in college. Being mostly self-taught, he struggled and always felt one step behind his classmates. Some of his professors even told Rogers that he wasn’t good enough. This led him to change his major and, unfortunately, flunk out of college. This was a low point in his life. Depressed and feeling as if he had no purpose in life, Rogers bounced from job to job until his future wife talked him into going back to school. He took her up on the challenge and decided to enroll in the private art school she suggested. The artist was not disappointed. With a fresh start he watched his skills, as well as his confidence, grow. And after two years, he graduated and received his Associate’s degree. It was also during this time that God gave him the vision to start Kingdom Come and create a new generation of Christian comics. Angel Knight is just the beginning of so much more to come. With prayer and hard work, Rogers hopes to open the door for other young artists who share his experience and to inspire them to use their creative gifts for the glory of Christ.

From the moment I saw this book on TNG publishers website I was intrigued. As a christian and fan of comic book stories I looked forward to reading the book and seeing what it had to offer; and it does not disappoint. I loved how Eric Rogers interweaves biblical themes with comic book plots.It is clear that the author has a good understanding of the Word of God and displays it is a amazing way and the book has great graphics. This graphic novel is an excellent nontraditional tool to get the world to know and takes interest in the things of God.

Ellenbogen textbook

I purchassed this textbook to prepare for the IBHRE exam. It provided an complete and excellent overview of pacemakers, ICD's, and cardiac resynchronization therapy and served as my main source of study for the exam. The textbook was well written and well-referenced. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn more about cardiac device rhythm therapy.

Biased

Disclosure: I trained under Ellenbogen in the very early 90s.
I have serially purchased just about every book he has authored and edited and saw the detail with which he reviewed earlier editions of this and other books on pacing. I authored several papers with him.
He is a brilliant and meticulous clinician and and this obviously translates into his published work.
This current third edition is similar to prior editions in it's bench to operating table completeness with excellent additions regarding emerging technology. In particular, his choice of authors is most appropriate, the most impressive of which is the chapter on LV lead placement. I have been implanting biventricular devices for over 10 years (having been involved in early clinical trials), rarely need to refer patients to a surgeon and still have gotten extremely useful tips from this 250+ page chapter.
This edition continues to cover the basic concepts, device behavior and troubleshooting, device management, lead extraction and future directions in a most comprehensive fashion.
This is the bible of pacing and far exceeds anything else out there for the serious experienced CRMD implanter.

An Excellent, Comprehensive, Clinically Useful Book

Because this reviewer is co-author of Chapter 1, his judgment regarding this book is biased.

The book for its subject is a great one. It provides both necessary comprehensive practical information and the underlying scientific thought related to implantation and use of pacemakers and defibrillators. It does this in ways that will help that information stick in the mind of medical persons who manage patients.

The second purpose of this review is to point out some some word abbreviation errors that should be listed for the reader.

In Chapter 1 the legends for figures 1-17 and 1-19 had the incorrect abbreviation msec substituted somewhere in the publishing process for the word microseconds that was spelled out in the manuscript. Also, in the legend for figure 1-22 the terms 10 msec and 500 msec were in the publishing process substituted for the 10 microseconds and 500 microseconds that were spelled out in the manuscript.

The same set of corrections applies to the DVD ROM presentation of Chapter 1 figure legends.

Similarly during the publishing process the incorrect abbreviation "mF" was substituted for the manuscript's "microfarads" on page 29 of Chapter 1 near the bottom of the left hand column.

The book - because it is both intellectually satisfying and practical - is fun to read, bits at a time.

About the Author
Kathleen Stassen Berger completed her undergraduate education at Stanford University and Radcliffe College, earned her M.A.T. from Harvard University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Yeshiva University. Her broad range of experience as an educator includes directing a preschool, teaching philosophy and humanities at the United Nations International School, teaching child and adolescent development to graduate students at Fordham University, teaching inmates earning paralegal degrees at Sing Sing Prison, and teaching undergraduates at both Montclair State University and Quinnipiac University. She has also been involved in education as the president of Community School Board in District Two in Manhattan.

For over three decades, Berger has taught human development at Bronx Community College of the City University of New York. The students Kathleen Berger teaches every year come from diverse ethnic, economic, and educational backgrounds representing a wide range of interests and consistently honor her with the highest teaching evaluations.

Berger’s developmental texts are currently being used at nearly 700 colleges and universities in a dozen countries and in five languages. Kathleen’s research interests include adolescent identity, sibling relationships, and bullying. As the mother of four daughters, as well as a new grandmother, she brings to her teaching and writing ample firsthand experience with human development.
